DIG Jammu-Kathua interacts with community leaders

Kathua, Aug 1: In a bid to bridge the differences between the two communities after the situation become tense over an alleged 'sacrilegious act' in Sheetal Nagar of Bani in Kathua, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police Shakeel Baig held meeting with community leaders and eminent citizens of the area and assured that guilty will be booked as per law and nobody will be allowed to disturb age old communal harmony of the region.
However the ongoing tension has been diffused soon after the hectic police initiatives which turned fruitful in the shape of apprehension of three main accused and things have started reconciling towards normalcy as shut down and protests were peacefully concluded.
Meantime to take the assessment of security and current situation of the areas of Basohli on ground zero, the DIG Jammu Kathua Range Shakeel Baig conducted a emergency visit to the area and took first hand reports of the situation. During his visit he held interactive sessions with senior community leaders, traders and eminent citizens of the area. The people from both communities put forth their views by condemning the sacrilegious act and demanded early action against the producers of this communal tension in the area. They also highlighted some issues related to the basic amenities.
DIG Shakeel Beig patiently gave a keen ear to issues of locals and assured the community leaders that stern action will be taken against those who are hell bent to disturb the communal harmony in the region and also asked the people to be aware of the rumour mongers.
