Daagi or Dalbadloo candidates not acceptable in Basohli constituency
9/11/2014 11:48:05 PM
Shiv Kumar Padha (Basohli)
The lines of ahindi film song 'Gungroo kitarha bajta hi raha hoon mein, kabhiisspagmeinkabhi us pagmeinbandhta hi rahahoonmein ' depict the kind of life theBasohli people have been leading and the agonies they have been passing throughout the six decades of parliamentary democracy in the country .Basohli constituency has always remained a source of temptation for the politicians especially from Kathua tehsil because 12 patwars, 25 villages and 28 polling stations of kandi belt of tehsil Kathua have always served the political purpose of the politicians behind it and have proved a game changer during elections in the past. The idea of attachment of thesepatwars of kandi belt is the brain product of the erstwhile political icons of the state with the twin aims first to pave the way for the out siders in the constituency and the second to block permanently the chances of localities to represent the constituency in future.
The first general elections for the Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly were held in 1960 and since then the local and non-local MLA's represented the Basohi constituency for fifteen and thirty years respectively. These non-local MLAs have always watched their own interests and cared for their vertical mobility at the cost of the development of the constituency and reached the corridors of power in the state. Basohli constituency, instead of progress and development, remained stagnant during their tenure as they always put a clog in the way of the development of the area. They meted out step motherly treatment with the people and spared no occasion in dividing them in the water tight compartments of casts, religion, villagers and urbanites.
Recent years have witnessed how the respected legislators and parliamentarians of the state have been suspended and expelled from their respective parties for their anti-party activities and for flouting the party discipline and whip in lieu of reward and incentive. The politicians who used to criticize and scold the BJP round the clock are now blowing hot and cold with the same breath. Now, when the bugle for the assembly elections have been blown, the suspended legislators and expelled parliamentarian have started their crusade to grab the party mandate from Basohli constituencylock stock and barrel.
The people of the constituency have had very bitter experience of the tenures of these MLA's in the past, repeating them again will prove disastrous both for party and the Basohli constituency. It is worth mentioning here that there is no dearth of the honest, dedicated, educated and credible people in Basohli and also of those who have suffered a lot as a result of their uninterrupted association with the party from the erstwhilePrajaParishad to the present BhartiyaJanta Party. Before giving the mandate to outsiders, tainted and turncoats the high command should bear one thing in mind that the Basohli people are neither animals whose string can be given in the hands of any one and every one nor they are a commodity for auction in the political market. Moreover Basohli is not a brothel to welcome thesponsored customers. These days the tainted politicians and turncoats are on hunt for the mandates bearing a mask of faithful soldiers of the parties intending to join. In reality they are wolves in lambs clothing because 'All that glitters is not gold' and 'joghar mein qafirhai who Maqqa Muqadas mein bhi qafirhai'. This time the people of the constituency have resolved to have those candidates who are local with clean image, honest, educated, and credible and not those unwarranted, tainted, turncoats and hypocrites thrust upon forcibly.
