| Chairman KMCS continues to be in chair 'illegally' | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Sept 10: In at ypical example 'might is right' the Chairman and Managing Committee of Kathua Marketing Cooperative Society (KMCS) though has completed the tenure by August 3 this year yet is not relinquishing his chair.
Expressing concerns over the issue when taken with DC Kathua, the district authority said that the matter will be taken up with the higher authority for post expiring tenure.
He said no financial activity could be carried out by the managing committee and chairman of the society after the expiring of tenure and in case any expenditure or financial involvement is suspected then a proper audit can be conducted.
The Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies admitted that the tenure of managing committee and chairman of Kathua Cooperative Marketing Society is expired since 3rd of August 2014 but at the same time he defended the issue by saying 'no notification of power nullification, extension or to conduct fresh elections yet has been issued by the higher authority.'
He however added that to intervene in this matter is not in his jurisdiction because it is the prerogative of higher authorities. Meanwhile the silence of the Cooperative Department over the issue has raised a finger of suspicion over the issue. |
