Free medical camp held | | | Early TImes Report
JAMMU, Sep 11: Keeping in view for post-flood diseases in flood affected areas of Bhagwati Nagar whose houses were submerged in the flood water during the recent rainfall, Independent contesting candidate of Jammu-West constituency and former GMC Consultant Medicine Dr. Anil Dhar along with his team, today organized its 5th free Medical camp at Government Girls High School, Bhagwati Nagar for the local residents especially for flood affected victims including the persons suffering from Hypertension and Diabetes. Around 300 people were examined during the camp which was started from 10 am to 2pm wherein free Blood Sugar testing was also done and free medicines were also distributed among the patients. In this context, Dr. Anil also delivered awareness lecture on the major risk factor for outbreaks associated with flooding is the contamination of drinking-water facilities and said that the risk of outbreaks can be minimized if the risk is well recognized and disaster-response addresses the provision of clean water as a priority. The lectured was appreciated by the local residents who were attending the camp. He further urged the state government and especially to health department to issue the guidelines for post-flood diseases. "As floods can potentially increase the transmission of the various communicable diseases like Water-borne diseases, such as typhoid fever, cholera, hepatitis A and Vector-borne diseases, such as malaria, dengue and dengue hemorrhagic fever," he added. |
