POONCH, Sept 11 : There has been no food and LPG for the 10 families who have been staying in government higher secondary school, Bhata Durian, here after their migration from their ancestral village due to the recent rains and floods. These families said they had not received any government relief after they moved to the school. "We are without the drinking water facility and government relief, including LPG cylinders and food," they added. Apart from them, several families living in the border villages of Tarkundi, Dabsi and Block block are without government relief and electricity despite repeated assurances from the government in this regard. ACR, Poonch, Shafiq Ahmad said the Surankote-Bafliaz road which had sank due to heavy rains, was today made operational. The vehicular traffic on Kumian-Mendhar and Surankote-Mendhar had also been restored, he informed. The infrastructure damaged in Poonch town in the recent rains and floods had almost been restored, official sources said. Sources said expert engineers had also arrived in Poonch to examine the Sher-e-Kashmir bridge which was damaged badly in the floods. |
