Rajendra takes stock of functioning of police establishments | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 16: The Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar, who is personally monitoring and supervising the assistance extended by JKP to the people in the flood affected areas, has asked the officers to mobilize their resources and coordinate with the civil administration to ease the problems of the people in this hour of need. Rajendra, who is taking meetings of senior police officers regularly and reviewing the progress on the rescue front, briefs the government functionaries accordingly. Directing all Zonal IGPs, range DIGs, District Superintendents and Commandants of Armed/IRP Battalions of JKP to mobilize their subordinate establishments and work round the clock for the rescue and assistance of the people in their respective areas. Rajendra during his visit to the affected areas, sought reports from the field officers about the functioning of police establishments during the evacuation of people from the flood hit areas. He was informed that police personnel under the command and control of senior officers took a massive operation to rescue the people trapped in the floods. He was told that JKP personnel were pressed into service and are busy in restoring essential services in these areas. The DGP directed the officers to work in coordination with civil administration in restoring the damaged roads leading to the hospitals, water resources and public distribution places. He said that in this time of trouble JKP has to work with shoulder to shoulder with the people to contribute for their relief. Rajendra expressed his satisfaction over the functioning of police stations hit by the floods, which have started their work of public service from the nearest safer locations. He directed that the work would be started on war footing so that these police establishments re-start their functioning properly at their locations. He said after declaring the city of Srinagar under floods, immediately the higher police officers including PHQ started its functioning from the camp offices opened at Gupkar Road to supervise the functioning of JKP and rescue work. |
