PDP ensures proper rehabilitation to affected family: Vikramaditya

Jammu, Sept 16: Emphasizing on the need of initiating coordinated efforts to minimize miseries of the people at this crucial juncture, senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Vikramaditya Singh today exhorted party workers to reach each and every victims of the devastating flood so as to render every possible help at their door steps at the time of the worst ever crisis. "Being a responsible opposition party of Jammu and Kashmir it is our duty to ensure that relief should be reached to each and every deserving family of the State", Vikramaditya Singh said While addressing a meeting of senior party leaders to review the initiatives taken by the PDP to provide immediate relief to the affected families. He further said, "I am myself coordinating relief and rescue activities from Delhi. We have already approached people from all over the country to donate generously for the flood affected families of Jammu and Kashmir", Singh said and assured that very soon relief material would be reached to remotest areas of Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Reasi and Udhampur. "I have been told that relief material is yet to be reached to the most deserving and affected families of the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri", he said but assured the workers that PDP as responsible opposition party would vociferously take up this issue before the State and Central government. He said that residents of twin border districts have suffered immensely due to devastating floods and incessant rain and it was need of the hour that relief should be immediately dispatched to the affected areas of these two districts. "We will make it sure each and every individual, who bore brunt of the nature's fury, would get adequate relief and compensation and would be rehabilitated properly", he said and exhorted party workers and leaders to utilize organizational setup of the PDP to intensify relief activities. "We have our network at the grass root. This time we have to utilize this network to minimize miseries of the people and to share grievances of the people", he said. Vice president of the PDP and MLA Mendhar Sardar Rafiq Hussain, while speaking on the occasion, lambasted the state government for adopting lackluster approach in dealing with such catastrophe. "Relief material is yet to be reached to the affected families of Poonch and Rajouri", he said and cautioned that further delay in sending relief to the affected families would deteriorate the situation. "It is very unfortunate that except aerial surveys by the ministers of the coalition government nothing concrete has been done so far by the state government to provide basic amenities to the affected families at grass-root level", Khan said and added that a number of areas were still disconnected with the rest of the State as a number of vital roads have been washed away in the floods. Former Rajya Sabha member and vice president of the party, Trilok Singh Bajwa told that standing crop in most parts of the plains of Jammu has been washed away in the flash flood.
He demanded that a survey should be immediately conducted to assess the losses due to floods and incessant rains.
