Police launches ‘cleanliness drive’ in flood affected areas | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 16 : Continuing to shoulder its active role in ongoing Relief cum rehabilitation operation in flood affected areas, the Jammu Police today launched cleanliness drive in village Sure Chack and Phallan Mandal areas under the supervision of Shakeel Ahmed Beig, DIG Jammu Samba Kathua Range Jammu. As there are apprehensions about the water borne diseases following the flood water has receded, the police shouldering a different responsibility launched a cleanliness drive in which various schools and other important areas were given priority to ensure resumption of study of the students as soon as possible and to ensure prevention of water born disease in the flood affected areas. DIG Jammu alongwith members of Jammu Rotary Club also distributed the relief material to the flood affected people. During interaction with the relief affected people, they demanded construction of strong embankment along Tawi river with crates to avoid such incidents in future. They also demanded restoration of electricity in the flood affected areas and providing drinking water facility. Matter was immediately brought into the notice of authorities concerned and water tankers were dispatched in the said areas immediately. |
