Surankote (Poonch), Sept 17: Lambasting Omar Abdullah led coalition regime for adopting lacklustre approach in providing relief to the flood affected people, General Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and party MLC, Yash Pal Sharma today regretted relief dispatched by the State Government and other social organisations is yet to reach deserving people. He alleged that State Government was adopting inhuman approach in providing relief to the residents of twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri. Sharma along with senior leaders of the PDP today visited flood affected areas of Surankote and adjoining localities and interacted with the victims of the nature's fury. Contesting claims of the state government that relief has been reached to all the flood affected areas, Sharma pointed out that most of the residents of flood affected areas of Poonch and Rajouri were without any relief. Sharma said that during his tour to the affected areas of Surankote areas he has found that some affected families are the verge of starvation due to non availability of ration. While interacting with the affected people, PDP leader Sharma assured that PDP would ensure that all the affected families would be properly rehabilitated. "We will not allow the authorities to ignore all the deserving families", he said and impressed upon the State and the Central governments to immediately depute teams to assess the losses. He warned PDP would not allow the State Government to adopt delay approach in assessing losses and disbursing relief to the affected families. He also demanded alternative shelters should be provided to the people who have become homeless in weather hostilities. During his visit to Surankote, Sharma visited Shindara, Seri Chouhana, Dundak, Snai, Potha, Surankote, Draba, Bafliaz, Fazlabad, Salian, Barham Gala and Chandak areas of Surankote. He was accompanied by district president of PDP Hamid Manhas, party candidate Iqbal Kazmi, Ilayas Shah, Mukthiyar Sheikh, Mohammad Shafiq, Kabir Qureshi, Shabir Sheikh and others. |
