Party leaders try to meet PM, sent back from Raj Bhavan gate | Rebellion in State Congress! | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 25: Despite youth Congress activists staging protest against the Kashmir visit of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Diwali day, a few Congress leaders left no stone unturned to meet the Prime Minister. However, they were left high and dry as the personal staff of the Prime Minister denied entry to them inside Raj Bhavan here. Sources told Early Times that two Congress leaders from north Kashmir's Bandipora district appeared outside the Raj Bhavan gate here and tried to enter inside. However, Prime Minister's personal staff asked them to reveal their identities and the purpose of visit. "Soon after the duo revealed that they are Congress leaders and want to meet the Prime Minister, the staff told them that they cannot see him as their names are not in the list," sources added. Refusal of the PM's personal staff to let them in annoyed the duo. "You cannot stop us. The National Security Advisor has already informed the personal assistant of the PM about our visit," the Congress leaders, according to the sources, told the people who were standing near the gate. However, they refused to oblige the duo and asked them to leave. A few media persons who recognized the duo asked them how come they are here as their party had announced that no one from the Congress would meet the Prime Minister. Outraged by the query of media persons, they screamed, "Mind your own business don't poke your nose in our personal matters," sources quoted leaders as having said. They said that both the leaders who had come to see the Prime Minister wanted to convey to him that they want to change their loyalties and shift to the BJP camp. "Both of them had discussed the modalities with the senior BJP leaders about them crossing over to their camp," sources said. "However, the BJP leaders had told them that if they meet the Prime Minister directly their entry into the party would be facilitated smoothly." Sources said that many Congress leaders from Jammu and Kashmir regions are making desperate attempts to reach out to the BJP leadership as they fear that Congress has lost its base in both the regions and is all set to lose power. "They are looking for a way out to safeguard their political careers and be a part of the ruling party," they added. A senior Congress leader who wished not to be named said that party has taken a serious note of the two Congress leaders not following the directions of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz not to meet the Prime Minister. "The people whom you are talking about are not real Congress workers they had joined the party a few years ago. They are turncoats who change their colour like a chameleon. They always look for green pastures and side with the powerful," he added. The leader claimed that party would take strong disciplinary action against them and would ensure they are punished for violating the party orders. |
