BJP high command acts tough , denies mandate to 'corrupt leaders' | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 8 : The BharatiyaJanta Party high command has denied the party tickets to two BJP stalwarts who were reportedly involved in orchestrating the cross voting in the RajyaSabha elections in the state following which BJP suspended its seven MLAs from the party. Sources said that two top BJP leaders have been denied the mandate to prevent others from toeing their line in future. "The step has been taken to discourage the party leaders from indulging in corrupt practices," sources added. They said though both these BJP leaders were optimistic to get the mandate this time and enter the State Assembly taking the advantage of Modi wave. There hopes were dashed when the Central Election Committee (CEC) of the party rejected their names and replaced them by another two candidates. Sources said that party high command had received feedback that both these leaders has tarnished party's image in the state and they need to dealt with sternly. One of these leaders according to sources was having proximity with a senior leader and a cabinet minister in Delhi and was hopeful that the national leader would come to his rescue but he failed to seek his support too. Sources said the BJP leader from the state who was aspirant for the party mandate this time also was plainly told by his Godfather in Delhi that he can't intervene in view of the tough stand taken by the party leadership. "Prime Minister NarenderaModi and Party chief Amit Shah have given directives that the two leaders should not be considered for the party ticket at any cost," sources quoted one on the top national leaders telling the BJP leader. |
