BJP deputes central leaders to probe allegation of selling mandates | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 8: Although BJP leadership has maintained a guarded silence over one day visit of National general secretary (organisation) Ram Lal, the central leader has authorised some senior leaders to look into the allegation of selling party mandates. These senior leaders have started their workers to ascertain authenticity about allegations that some party tickets were sold. Credible sources in the BJP said that after some BJP workers in Kathua, Jammu and Rajouri districts label allegations of selling of party tickets, BJP high command swung into action and started investigation. Instead of depending on those who are at the helm of the affairs in J&K BJP, the party has called some leaders from outside the State to probe allegations. BJP J&K incharge, Avinash Rai Khanna, state organisation secretary Ashok Kaul, state president Jugal Kishore Sharma and other senior leaders have been directed to cooperation with those outsider leaders who have been probing the allegations. These leaders would not be part of the team which has been entrusted the responsibility of probing the allegations. Credible sources in the BJP said that party high command has also decided not to give all financial resources at the hand of state unit or those who are managing affairs in state BJP. Instead of depending upon incumbent state leadership, the high command has decided to call some leaders from Delhi to manage finance during the elections to avoid any irregularity. This decision has been taken due to allegations of financial irregularities in last assembly elections in 2008 in which huge amount was spent on those candidates who were not in winning position, while as funds were not given to some candidates who lost elections all due to financial crunch. Meanwhile, some BJP leaders who were denied mandates in the elections have been openly alleging that mandates were sold. |
