Sports Week at Govt Polytechnic College 11/28/2014 10:59:22 PM Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 28: On the 5th day of the ongoing week long Annual sports and activities week in Government Polytechnic, Bikram Chowk Jammu which was inaugurated by Navin Aggarwal (IPS), Director General, Youth Services & Sports Department, J&K Government, Er. Arun Bangotra Principal of the college took stock of the arrangements of various sports discipline accompanied by Er. Inderjeet Singh and Er. K.S Bhatia and personally interacted with all the participants and gave necessary instructions to the convenors of all the committee members. In the Poetry Competition, 23 students from various departments participated. The competition was judged by Er. Sakshi Kapai, Er. Ajay Thapa and Er. Neena Gupta. First prize was won by Akib Rashid from Electrical department, Muddasar Feroz of Computer Engg. department was adjuded 2nd while 3rd prize went to Bisma Wani from Mechanical Engg. department. In Cricket, after the knock out stages, in the 1st semi-final Automobile Engg. department defeated Mechanical Engg. department by 23 runs. In 2nd Semifinal Computer Engg. department defeated Civil Engg. department by 4 wickets. In Volleyball, in the 1st semifinal Mechanical Engineering department defeated the Automobile Engg. department by 25-14 and 25-19. In 2nd semifinal Architecure Engg. department defeated electrical Engg. department by 25-12, 25-20. In the Table tennis, in 1st semifinal Asad Sharma from Electrical Engg. Department defeated Rythem by 2-0, in 2nd semifinal Vansh Mahajan from Mechanical Engg. department defeated Himmat Singh of I&C department by 2-1 sets. In Badminton, in the 1st semifinal Mohit Sharma of Electrical Engg. department defeated Adarsh Kumar from Automobile Engg. department by 11-5, 11-6. In 2nd semifinal Vishal verma from Civil Engg. department defeated Himmat Singh from I&C by 11-7 and 11-4. In Carrom, in 1st semifinal, Kartik and Akash of Automobile Engg defeated Abhay and Baljeet of Mechanical Engg. Department by 2-0. In 2nd semifinal, Ishan Raina and Zahid Ali from Computer Engg. department lost to Tariq and Mukesh of Civil Engg. department by 2-1. In Chess, Rajat Sharma of Electrical department defeated Guneet Singh from Civil Engg. deptt in 1st semifinal.
