Early Times Report

Udhampur, Nov 28: Charging successive governments in Jammu and Kashmir of looting the people, the Indian Prime Minister and BJP star campaigner Narendra Modi said that development has been stopped in Jammu and Kashmir for the last over 30 years while the political families have become richer day by day.
In his maiden political rally in Udhampur town, Modi said that some political families are looting, blackmailing people emotionally for the last over 3o years and are involved in corruption deep neck. He said people are feeling deceived in the hand of governments one after the other.
"We never hesitated to help the state economically whenever any natural calamity or any other problem corners the residents of this state but mystery continuous over the fact where this money has gone as people are still suffering", Modi said while addressing a largely attended gathering of over one lac people.
Modi said he has tightened the screws now as far as releasing money to these rulers of state governments is concerned and that is the reason he is being criticized by people in government as well as in opposition.
"It was government of Congress from Panchayat to Parliament and streets to Delhi and former Congress leader and Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi used to say that centre releases Rs. 1 whereas only 15 paise reaches people in villages. Where are these 85 paise going? Who is looting this money? I will raise question over this bungling whether it is NC, Congress or any other government", said Modi.
"If the money released by center would have been directly added into the account of people of Jammu and Kashmir, they would have become richer than any other citizen of this country rather than giving this money to the state governments", Modi added.
Playing emotional card, Modi further said that he had come from city of Varanasi famous for river 'Ganga' which is considered to be the younger sister of river Devika in Udhampur town to seek her blessings for the overall development of the state.
He added that employment avenues are absent in Jammu and Kashmir and he will strive hard to brought in some international companies to create an atmosphere of jobs in the state for the unemployed youth of this state. "Tourism is the backbone of the state as having some beautiful landscapes and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi in the religious and scenic state, everyone including the cart pullers, shopkeepers and even 'Chai Wala' can earn money through tourism. All we need is to revive this backbone", Modi further said.
Modi congratulated residents of Jammu and Kashmir for marking the victory of ballets over bullets and strengthening democracy at the grass root level. He said terrorists tried their level best to deter the people of Jammu and Kashmir but people of Jammu and Kashmir are insurmountable as far as their courage is concerned which according to Modi, was shown with healthy voting percentage.
Modi also said in his speech that he is only Prime Minister among the 12 former Prime Ministers who had visited Jammu and Kashmir number of times from July to November this year and will visit the state in December also. "I am fortunate enough to have glimpse of crowds after crowds in Jammu, Kashmir as well as Ladakh", Modi added.
Modi further said that he made whole mechanism including state government, army, police and Delhi government especially on toes to help the people of Jammu and Kashmir when they were suffering from flash floods in the state and appealed to the people of the state for supporting the BJP candidates in the Legislative Assembly elections.
Other senior BJP leaders who were present in the rally included Dr. Jitendera Singh, Er. Avinash Rai Khanna, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, Subash Shastri, Pawan Khajuria, R S Pathania, Kuldeep Dubey, Dina Nath Bhaghat, Ajay Nanda and others.
