Hung Assembly in offing | | | Sandeep Bhat
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 20: The stage is all set for yet another hung assembly as no party seems strong enough to form the government on its own. Any coalition is possible in the state but more prominent is PDP- Congress coalition because if sources are to be believed, PDP will be the single largest party and as per rule, governor will invite the single largest party to form the government in the state and Congress will be PDP's first choice. The two parties have been together in 2002-2008 government. Next option is BJP which may become second largest in the state and will opt for NC. There is no question of PDP and NC combine as both are regional forces and have base in the valley. Third option may be PDP-BJP, but it is very remote as both don't want to get into any kind of combination. Talking to Early Times, Rattan Lal, said that it is clear now that no single party is in a position to form the government in the state, now it seems that PDP- Congress is most viable option. A senior BJP leader said that it is possible that BJP with others like Peoples Conference, independents and others may form government in state and obviously if BJP becomes the single largest party it may be BJP led government. A journalist who did not wish to be named, said that any combination cannot complete the full six year term in the state and there is every possibility of midterm poll in the state. Some even suggest that it will be governor rule for next six months and re election in the state. The final results will be on December 23. |
