Kathua, Feb 19: District Development Commissioner Kathua Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today convened a meeting of Zilla Lok Shiksha Samiti (ZLSS) to review the progress made under Sakshar Bharat Mission in the District here at DC office complex on Thursday.
According to press release, the meeting held threadbare discussion with regard to implementation of Saakshar Bharat Mission, a centrally sponsored scheme launched for the eradication of illiteracy.
At the outset, Sr lecturer DIET Basohli Brij Bhushan detailed the meeting through Power Point presentation about the Mission and progress made in the district.
He informed that the committee has been constituted in district, block level and panchayat level for proper implementation of the mission for its objective results. He said that the proper training and orientation courses were imparted to the Prerakas, Block and district coordinators for achieving target under the mission.
DDC reviewed the performances of the block and district committees and percentage of survey done by the field staff.
On the occasion, DDC asked the committee members to make comprehensive plan to target drop outs students with special emphasis on female students.
He impressed upon the members to ensure the functioning of the Adult Education Centers (AEC's) in their respective areas.
The District Coordinator informed the meeting about the requirements for making the institutions functional with required infrastructure. He called upon the committees to achieve 100% coverage under household Survey.
For making the mission successful, the DDC asked the ACD and CEO to hold meetings of BDOs and ZEPOs for smooth implementation of the programme. He exhorted upon the BDO's to convene meetings with Block coordinators of their respective areas. Weekly and monthly reviews of progress will be monitored by the office of DDC.Among others who were attendant in the meeting included ACD Kathua, CEO Kathua, Principal DIET Basohli, AD Planning, BDO Barnoti, Basohli, Duggan, Lohai Malhar, Dy.
