JAMMU, Feb 19: Associate Professor in Zoology, Govt. College for Women, Parade Ground, Jammu Dr. Pragya Khanna, has been awarded Eminent Scientist Gold Medal in recognition of her outstanding academic contribution and achievements in the field of Cytogenetics by the Society of Life Sciences, Madhya Pradesh, India. According to press release, Dr. Khanna has been conferred this award for the Attribution accorded for collection of rare specimens of Chironomids from J&K by Biodiversity Institute of Ontario, Barcode Index Number Registry For BOLD:AAW3997. The Specimen Depositories for the rare specimens have been formed at the Biodiversity Institute of Ontario and the University of Melbourne, Australia, while the Sequencing Centers have been established at the Biodiversity Institute of Ontario. The Sequencing Support was provided by the International Barcode of Life Project, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Global Mirror System of DNA Barcode Data for the Specimen Information on Chironomus sp. PK (Pragya Khanna) 1 to 7. The Insect Barcode Informatica (IBIn), National Institute of Agriculturally Important Insects (ICAR) has accorded the NBAII Accession No. to the rare specimens. Dr. Khanna has been working in the said field for more than 15 years and has 17 National/International awards and recognitions. |
