Udhampur, Feb 19 : Police today organized a debate competition on "Drug awareness" in the premises of Shivalik College Udhampur under Civic Action Programme (CAP) of Jammu and Kashmir Police in which students from different schools/colleges of Udhampur participated. Sr Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur Mohd Suleman Choudhary was the chief guest on the occasion.While speaking on the occasion, chief guest said that the motive of district police behind organising this programme was to create awareness among the younger generation especially students about the ill effects of drug abuse and alcoholism. SSP assured the participants that similar awareness programmes would be taken up by the Police in the different rural areas of Udhampur as well and strict action under law would be taken against the criminals involved in the menace of narcotics smuggling. A panel of judges adjudged Ms Bhagisha Kundal of Happy Model Hr Sec. School, Udhampur as first winners followed by Ms Madhu Bala of Govt Girls High School Udhampur as second and Akshita Gupta of Brahm Rishi Bhawra School, Udhampur as third respectively. The winners were given cash reward worth Rs 4000/-, Rs 2000/- and Rs 1000 respectively besides commendation certificates. Among others present on this occasion include Gourav Mahajan, DySp Headquarters Udhampur, Inspr Mahesh Sharma, SHO P/S Udhampur, Vikram Gulati. |
