Reasi, Feb 24 : The National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) organised communal harmony campaign in Talwara township of Reasi district on Tuesday. According to press release, in Talwara, there are over 900 militancy affected families staying in temporary sheds. Department of District Social Welfare gave complete detail of the activities of NGO and its functioning. Rafiq Ahmead, District Social Welfare officer Reasi requested the participants to assist the Department to identify the orphans who are victims of violence so that they are provided assistance and appealed to maintain harmony for an overall development of the region and the state as well. "NFCH provides financial assistance to orphans who are victims of violence under scheme Project Assistant. It is a flagship scheme of foundation which provides financial assistance to the children rendered orphan or destitute in various communal, caste, terrorist violence and at present 77 beneficiaries in Reasi are getting Rs 750 per month from NFCH through Social Welfare Department and 11 fresh cases have been submitted to the NFCH during 2014-2015 for sanction," he added. He further said that the Social Welfare Department since it came into existence is endeavoring to achieve its basic objectives of social and economic uplift of the citizens by providing the facilities to ensure the protection of social and economic rights and development of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Minority and Down Trodden Communities, Weaker and exploited Sections of Society, Physically Handicapped, Destitute Children and Women. At present the Department is implementing various schemes such as ISSS, IGNOAP, IGNWPS, IGNDPS, NFBS, CSSS, AABY, and SCA to TSP, Rehabilitation of Victims of Militancy (RC and NFCH), Pre and Post Matric Scholarships, he informed. |
