Jammu, Feb 24:- In a significant development towards the upliftment of educationally backward Schedule Tribe (ST) community in Kishtwar district, the Centre under its Tribal Affairs ministry has accorded sanction for the construction of three 100 seated co-education tribal schools in Jammu and Kashmir including one at Chatroo in Inderwal constituency of Kishtwar district. The other two schools will be constructed in Baramullah district of Kashmir and Rajouri district of Jammu province.
As per the details available with "Early Times", Director Tribal Affairs J&K vide letter No DTA/Plg/14/421-22 dated 20-2-2015 asked DC Kishtwar to identify 10 kanals of land for the construction of the school at Inderwal. "The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, has accorded approval for 3 co-education 100 seated schools for scheduled tribe students under Article 275 (1) Constitution of India. The project aims to provide education to the remote/far flung ST students, order of director Tribal Affairs, J&K.
He directed DC Kishtwar to identify about 10 kanals of land for construction of the sanctioned Tribal School and get the Detail Project Report prepared through PWD for early execution of the project.
It is pertinent to mention that Chatroo Sub-Division of Kishtwar district has a majority of population of STs who lack far behind in education sector. Each school will be constructed at an estimated cost of more than Rs 3 cr, while Government of India has already released one crore each for these three sanctioned schools. Free boarding and lodging facility will be provided to the students along with free education. Inderwal MLA Ghulam Mohammad Saroori expressed his thanks to the Union Tribal Ministry for sanctioning the tribal school for Chatroo and said it was a long pending demand of the ST community residing in this remote part of the country.
He said that establishment of Tribal School school will help to boost the education skills of the backward ST community living in the area. He said that there is need of more such schools in the district so that huge population of ST community residing in the district could be benefitted.
"I will make all my efforts for more such schools in the district--- I hope Government of India will give more such schools to the district in future and double the intake capacity of students from 100 seat to 200," said Saroori.
He said that he will also meet DC Kishtwar regarding early finalizing and identification of land so that the project could be finished at the earliest.
