10th class students to get refund of winter vacation fee :CEO

Jammu, Feb 24: A day after Early times carried the news titled "Kishtwar private schools denied roll number slips to 10thclass students, demanded extra/winter vacation fee" published in 23-02-2014 edition, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kishtwar ordered immediate refund of the extra/winter vacation fee charged by the private school managements to 10thclass students whose examination was postponed due to last flood furry in Jammu and Kashmir.
"It has come to my notice that some private institutions of this District are charging the tuition fee for the period Nov, 2014 to Feb,2015 from the students of 10th class who are going to be appeared in 10th class examination which is commencing in the month of March 2015---So it is impressed upon all the Heads of the institutions of All private schools to refund the fees to the students so charged with in a period of 03 days positively under intimation to this office" read CEO Kishtwar order No: CEO/K/15/24917-37 Dated: 23.02.2015. CEO Kishtwar in his order further added that "If any complaint received by this office (regarding charging of extra/winter vacation fee), the necessary action will be taken under rule and their case will be referred to Worthy Director School Education Jammu and Chairman BOSE for necessary action".It is pertinent to mention that the issue came to fore when a deputation of parents of students studying in SDM Public school Kishtwar led by Ranjeet Kumar called upon the Chief Education Officer Kishtwar and raised the issue of charging of an additional fee of Rs.1000 per month along with Rs. 1300 as monthly fee from each out going students of class 10th for the month of November 2014 to February 2015 without any justification and veiled reason.
While talking to Early times, several parents of the students said that other private school charged monthly fee ranging between Rs. 300-400/month, while SDM Public school charged Rs. 1300/month from the students which is unjustified, added that the administration must need to intervene and prevent the parents from robbing at the hands of these private schools, beside also demanded action against all those schools who are blackmailing the parents at the cost of the future of their innocent children. They also demanded check on charging of hefty amount as printing charge fee from the students throughout the year.
