Ramban, Feb 24 : Continuing to its special drive to curb the menace of bovine smuggling by District Police Ramban Police today foiled two bovine smugglings bids with the arrest of two bovine smugglers and rescuing atleast 16 animals from their possession during raids at Banihal and Chanderkot. Police teams headed by Inspr Tariq Hussain Naik SHO Police Station Banihal and Inspr Rajinder Sharma, SHO PS Chanderkot made these arrests under the direct supervision of Randeep Kumar, Sr Superintendent of Police, Ramban. Police spokesperson said, "During routine checking at Railway Station Crossing National Highway Banihal, a truck bearing registration No JK02AJ-4341 was halted for routine checking and on thorough search of the vehicle, eleven bovine animals were found loaded in a inhuman manner and were being smuggled from Jammu to Srinagar." "On this, the bovine animals were rescued and driver of the vehicle namely Tarseem Lal s/o Suram Chand of Jourian Jammu was arrested on the spot, police said adding, "accordingly a case FIR No. 15/15 under section 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act was registered at Police Station Banihal." Meanwhile, in another case during routine checking at Kunfer Nallah National Highway near Chanderkot, a TATA Mobile bearing regd no: JK02BE-4542 was stopped for routine checking. "During the checking of the vehicle, five bovine cattle were found being smuggled from Jammu to Srinagar, police said, adding, "the police team arrested driver of the vehicle namely Shabir Ahmed s/o Bashir Ahmed of Khanpur Nagrota Jammu." Accordingly a case FIR No. 15/15 u/s 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Chanderkot. |
