Ration dealer attacked, people block road | | | MENDHAR, Mar 18 : Angered by the attack on a government ration dealer by some persons at Gursai Morhi near here today, people held a demonstration on the Mendhar-Surankote road and blocked it to vehicular traffic. One Noorul Haq had lodged a complaint against ration dealer Mohammad Hussain alias Munshi, alleging therein that the latter had been selling ration on higher rates. Acting on the complaint, tehsil supply officer (TSO), Mendhar, Abdul Khaliq tasked two of his subordinates to remain present at the dealer's shop when he sells ration to people, according to official sources. While the dealer was selling ration in the presence of the two CAPD employees when Noorul Haq came there and allegedly picked up a fight with Munshi. In the incident, one Mohammad Alam of Gursai Morhi was wounded. When Noorul fled the spot, Munshi and some Gurha Morhi residents gathered on the Mendhar-Surankote road and blocked it to vehicular traffic. They also raised slogans against CAPD director and joint director, Poonch. Sources said while the people were protesting, Noorul again appeared on the scene and pelted stones on them. He, however, fled after police arrived on the spot. The protesters also dispersed later on the assurance of police that justice would be done in the case. The injured was later admitted to the sub-district hospital, Mendhar. |
