Jammu, Mar 18: Under the supervision of Deputy Controller Enforcement VS Sambyal market checking team of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) conducted surprise check of Best Price wholesale store at Paloura in Jammu and imposes Rs 30,000 penalty to management for violation of norms of Consumer Act
According to the official spokesperson, the team detected the Best Price management displaying packages of Maltagliati Pasta in violation of Packed Commodities Rules.
"On observing the violation Inspector Legal Metrology Jammu (U), M Khateeb issued show cause notice to the Best Price Wholesale store management, he said. On receiving the show cause, the management accepted their fault and removed all the defective packages from their store premises and filed composition application in the office of the Deputy Controller Enforcement.
"The Deputy Controller Enforcement fixed the penalty to the tune of Rs. 30,000 which was then deposited in the office, the spokesperson said. Meanwhile, the spokesperson said that to provide services at the doorstep and on the demand of trading community, the Department of Legal Metrology has installed a two days re-verification camp on March 18 at Janipur for yearly re-verification of weights and measures used by traders in commercial transactions.
