Early Times Report

jammu, Mar 18: The budget session of the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led PDP-BJP Government began here today with Governor's address to the joint session of the state's bicameral legislature which was marred by the uproar at regular intervals by the opposition benches.
As soon as Governor started his address this morning, MLA Langate Er Sheikh Rashid Ahmad started shouting at him. Rashid was soon joined by NC leader and MLA Gurez, Nazir Gurezi and some other legislators of the NC and Congress. However, Governor continued his address amid din for some time and soon the members returned to their seats. Hitting out at the PDP for total u-turns on the ideological issues of self-rule Rashid sought replies over "double standards".
"For remaining in power, PDP compromised with their basic ideological issues and deceived the people. I want reply from them" Rashid was heard saying.
Rashid, as usual, continued to create noisy scenes by interrupting the governor at regular intervals. Rashid could not find friends in the opposition camp and by the time Governor was though. It was a last minute uproar when NC's Ali Mohammad Sagar started shouting at Governor. Sagar was soon joined by MLA Sonawari M Akbar Lone followed all other NC MLAs.
However, governor continued his speech and soon the MLAs returned to their seats.
Earlier, a unique happening was noticed when the members of the two houses and media persons watching the proceedings stood up on the entry of governor to the central hall and national anthem was played.
When the recorded national anthem was played noises of cricket commentary were coming loud and clear from the speakers installed in the central hall. Everyone present there was taken aback. However, when the national anthem started playing the background noises of cricket commentary automatically slowed down.
Former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah who was present in the central hall was seen making note of certain things on a not-pad.
Latter NC MLA Devender Singh Rana said, "we will play the role of effective opposition and expose the government."
The PDP-BJP coalition government braces up to present the annual budget on Sunday.
Dr. Haseeb Drabu, the professionally qualified finance minister will present his first budget on Sunday. The budget according to insiders is unique and different from what it had been in the past.
