Justice awaits corrupt Govt officials

JAMMU, Mar 22 : With submission of lists of most corrupt bureaucrats and technocrats in J&K, to Chief Minister by the State Vigilance Organization, tough days lie ahead for Vinod Koul, presently attached to GAD who figured on the top of the notorious list.
Highly placed sources told Early Times that the list of most corrupt officials was submitted to Chief Minister by the SVO on March 15, 2015, and action could take place any time. "Soon afterassuming the office of Chief Minister, Mufti Mohd Sayeed had directed the SVO to submit the list of corrupt officials, and same was submitted to the CM", a senior official in the civil secretariat told Early Times, whishing not to be named. "There are tough days ahead for those who had figured in the list. The CM had also made clear that no compromises would be made on corruption", sourced claimed. Earlier, Vinod Kaul had been facing various corruption charges since day he joined Relief Commissioner (Migrant). According to FIR No 3/2012 registered by VOJ , a verification conducted into the matter relating to allegations of payment of service tax out of govt exchequer by the office of Relief Commission (Migrant) Jammu has revealed that Vinod Koul the then Relief Commissioner (M) Jammu had entered into criminal conspiracy with M/S Mytas Rithwik. "In pursuance there of, the Officer dishonestly, fraudulently and by abusing his official position made a payment in respect of service tax to the tune of Rs 2, 03, 18,155 out of govt exchequer whereas same was to be deducted from the running bills of aforesaid firm submitted in the office of Relief Commissioner (M) Jammu on account of work executed for construction of two rooms tenements at Jagti Nagrota, Jammu", documents in available with Early Times divulged. The documents further revealed that work of construction of two rooms tenement from migrants of Kashmir valley at Jagti was awarded in favour of Mytas Rithwik in the year 2007 and as per terms and condition of the NIT, service tax among other taxes was to be paid after deducting the same from running bills of the contractor at the rate applicable at the relevant time. The rate of service tax was 8.4 per cent between the period 2007 till March 31, 2010 and the same was revised @ 10.5 per cent from April 1, 2010. Education Minister, Nayeem Akhtar who is also spokesman to state cabinet when contacted said the matter was pending with Chief Minister, so it is difficult to make any comment over the issue. However, the minister said that there would be no backing tracking like previous regime. "As Mufti Sahib has promised the people, we will meet our promises made with our people", he said, adding that witch-hunting is not acceptable any cost.
