Awareness programme on "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" organized 3/22/2015 11:32:05 PM Early Times Report Hiranagar, Mar 22: Shakti Punj (NGO) a social organization Hiranagar organized awareness programme on "Beti Bacho Beti Padhao" at ward no. 11 Hiranagar. During the function members of the Shakti Punj awared the girls of locality by distributing study material and refreshment among them. President of the organization Kuljeet Singh said as per the census 2011 data, there are only 859 girls per 1000 males in the age group of 0-6 years as compared to 941 females per 1000 males in census 2001 in the state. The declining child sex ratio is a grave concern for the state as it would lead to serious socio-cultural problem including gender imbalance in population.
