Rajouri, Mar 29: In view of the prevailing adverse weather conditions, incessant rains and warning issued by the State Government, Rajouri district administration has sounded alert and has appealed to the people to avoid staying/moving near the rivers/rivulets. All the Sub Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars have been put on alert and directed by the Deputy Commissioner , Deepati Uppal to keep close watch on the development followed by torrential rains and, if necessary, shift people to safer places from soil erosion and landslide areas. "All the SDMs and Tehsildars have been directed to keep close contacts with local police officials and panchayat members and in case of any emergency they must contact at district Headquarters for any immediate help" said Mohd Saleem Malik, Additional DC. He added till late today evening no case of any damage to road, property , human life has been reported from the district but alert has been sounded as the inclement weather condition will continue for another 2-3 days. According to some unconfirmed reports many raw pickers, banzaras camping along the river sides in the vicinity of Rajouri city have been asked to shift to safer places during night hours as the water level has been increasing in Agli Tawi and Sukhto Rivers flowing on both sides of old Rajouri town. |
