| Situation in Kashmir very alarming | | Clueless BJP spokespersons | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 17: The situation in Kashmir Valley is deteriorating and deteriorating very fast. The situation has climaxed to the point that the Pakistani agents in Kashmir like Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Masrat Alam, Asiya Andrabi are organizing anti-India events in the heart of Srinagar city with utmost ease, raising pro-Pakistan, pro-Azadi and anti-India slogans and hoisting Pakistan flags. And they are doing it under the nose of the law and order authorities. It is free for all in the Valley and it appears that the Valley is heading towards a major crisis, thus posing a live challenge to the unity and integrity of India. The situation as it prevails today in the valley has infuriated the former diplomats, former Army Generals and other strategic affairs experts to the extent that they using a very strong language against the BJP Government at the centre and seeking to tell the nation that the present dispensation at the centre has utterly failed to appreciate the prevailing situation and only negated the sacrifices of thousands of our army jawans and members of paramilitary forces. "Our jawans did not sacrifice their lives for all this," they are saying, adding that the present dispensation has disappointed the country by messing up things in Kashmir.
Significantly, the state government and the BJP which is also its part are treading different paths. The government is saying that the law will take its own course and that Alam and others would be put behind bars if the relevant laws provided for their arrest and criminal proceedings against them. The BJP spokespersons in Jammu and Kashmir and New Delhi, who have been cutting a sorry figure during TV debates on the issues of national importance or security-related issues, and have become an object of contempt and ridicule, have been unsuccessfully trying to deflect the attention of the nation from the real issue by invoking Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and what harm he caused to Jammu and Kashmir. They are fooling themselves by asserting and re-asserting that a handful of Pakistani agents have been vitiating the atmosphere to scuttle the move on resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley and defeat the resolve of the BJP to empower the refugees from West Pakistan.
The plight of the BJP spokespersons is so pathetic that they have no counter argument to defend their party, the Narendra Modi Government and the BJP ministers in the state government. They are being taunted and put embarrassing questions. They have been only beating about the bush because they are, it appears, directed by the high command not to use strong words against what has been happening in the Valley for days now. "We reassure the nation through news channels that our strong government at the centre will not compromise its position on national security and the country's sovereignty," the cornered, crest-fallen, snubbed and clueless BJP spokespersons like Sambit Patra, Srikanta Sharma, Sadhansu Trivedi, Shaina NC, GVL Narasimha Rao, Vijay Goel, to mention only a few, have been saying.
Sources within the state BJP inform that "almost all in the party, barring BJP ministers and a couple of MLAs, are up in arms against the party high command as well as BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav". "The party high command has blackened our faces beyond recognition. We cannot show our faces to the people who are angry with the party high command and who curse the role of the BJP in the ministry and legislature," they, according to the credible sources within the party, are saying.
The BJP, it appears, has lost its way. |
