Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 27: A 26-year-old youth died today after he collapsed during an Army recruitment rally in Doda district, while 10 youths received injuries in a baton charge by police during a similar recruitment drive in Reasi. Police said that Yogeshwar Singh collapsed while undergoing screening test at a recruitment rally of Territorial Army (TA) in Doda, He was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him "brought dead". "Prima facie it seems that the youth may have suffered a heart attack," said the police, adding that the cause of the death is being investigated. Meanwhile, 10 people were injured in Reasi district today as police had to resort to baton charge to restore order at an Army recruitment drive which drew huge crowds. Police had to intervene to restore order during the TA recruitment drive at Talwara in Reasi, a senior police officer said. "Police used batons to restore order and check stampede at Talwara where youths turned out in large numbers for recruitment," the officer said, adding 10 people were injured in the clashes which ensued after police intervened The Army has been holding recruitment rallies in the state to fill 1,305 vacancies in the TA. |
