Amarnath Yatra gives 'image correction' opportunity to BJP
7/3/2015 12:06:07 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, July 2: Embarking upon the efforts to correct its dented image , Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is trying to cash upon the sentiments of the Amarnath pilgrims.
The frequently seen hoardings and posters reflecting hand-folded Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP Chief Amit Shah, party MPs' from Jammu and senior state leaders and party incharge J&K Affairs lined up at various outlets is being seen upon as a 'desperate attempt' by the sinking BJP.
However, the large number of pilgrims who are reaching here to start the pilgrimage and camping in different base camps are satisfied with the overall arrangements made by the state govt and Shri Amarnathji Shrine board.
Senior cabinet ministers are regularly visiting various camps and other places where pilgrims are expected to stay during pilgrimage to take stock of the arrangements.
The langar committees have been informed to stay in touch with the concerned agencies if they require any assistance while extending services to the pilgrims.
Several other pilgrims who are facing difficulties in completing registration formalities have been facing tough time. In the absence of adequate facilities at exhibition ground where on the spot registration was done along with issuing health certificates several pilgrims have been found complaining about the inadequate facilities.
In the absence of clean water and less number of yatra counters the pilgrims have to wait for a long time in serpentine queues to complete the formalities. Several other pilgrims have raised the issue of locker facility at the yatri niwas.
