| Two woman among eight injured in Avoora- Pahalgam clashes | | | Early Times Report
Anantnag, Aug 1: Eight persons including a pregnant woman sustained injuries when residents clashed with the demolition squad of Revenue Department which has gone to demolish a building allegedly constructed by Peoples Conference leader Anwar Jan that too constructed on state land in violation of law in Avoora area of Pahalgam here today on Saturday.
Eyewitness said that locals mostly Gujjars (Tribal people) pelted stones on the demolition squad which arrived this afternoon in the aforesaid area to demolish an illegal structure raised by Peoples Conference leader Anwar Jan allegedly on state land in violation of law.
Among eight two women were immediately shifted to district hospital Anantnag for treatment. Injured were identified as Aabida w/o Ashraf Kahatana and Gulshana w/o Bilal Ahmad.
Reports said that as soon as the squad reached near the structure, locals pelted stones on police personnel and revenue employees during which vehicle of SDM sustained damage.
"We came under the attack from few Gujjar families residing in the area where we had gone to demolish an illegal structure," SDM Pahalgam told Early Times.
A police Official said that in retaliation two ladies, who were part of the stone pelting mob sustained minor injuries. |
