3 PDP ministers call shots amid criticism | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 1: The three cabinet ministers of PDP may well be enjoying upper hand in all key matters of governance, the trio have earned different names on account of their focus of work, priorities and style of working, no matter what ministries they are actually holding at present. While the R&B Minister Altaf Bukhari is being referred to as Minister of 'traders', Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu's name is being likened to that of minister of 'Corporates'. The third one, Education minister, contrary to his portfolio is being called popularly as minister of 'bureaucrats'. Sources said many people around the trio are not happy with their style of functioning. This team of ministers is being referred to as 'B' team as against the 'A' team comprising senior PDP leaders who have a long association with the party but they are maintaining a low profile . However, this vertical divide has resulted in goverance deficit and gaps within the party itself as there is visible mismatch in capabilities and experience between the two categories. These three ministers are facing more criticism than applause, sources said adding that the real role and functioning of the trio is based on what they do and how they deliver in the government. Sources said since Altaf Bukhari is seen mostly addressing and raking up the cause of traders mainly from Kashmir Valley , many see and call him as minister of traders, rather than R&B minister. They may have been dynamic in their erstwhile assignments, but the fact remains that all the three lack any political experience nor do they have any political orientation that would have enabled them to show best of results in the ministries allotted to them. More than a dynamic Finance Minister, Drabu for obvious reasons is being seen as a good CEO, who can only cater to cause to corporate sector and seen promoting only corporate like culture in the goverance rather than showing political acumen in dealing with his ministry. He lacks depth needed to understand intricacies of Finance Ministry that too in a sensitive state like J&K, said the sources as being analyzed by his own colleagues. Likewise, the role of Naeem Akhtar, an ex bureaucrat is being stated as minister of bureaucrats as he is mostly seen focusing and centered around bureaucracy of the state, no matter he is upright and honest. |
