JAMMU, Aug 1: The Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department, during 125 market inspections conducted during this week, has booked 60 traders and charged Rs fine Rs 32,400 from them for violation of various provisions of Essential Commodities Act A team headed by Attam Dev Singh, Deputy Director (Supplies) Jammu , under the supervision of G. S. Chib, Director CAPD Jammu, conducted inspections of fruit and vegetables sellers, Halwai Shops, Dry Fruits Shops, Dhabas, Bar and Restaurants, Mutton and Chicken shops, Karyana shops, etc in the areas of Janipur, Roop Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Sanjay Nagar, Nanak Nagar, Railway Station, Channi Himmat, Talab Tillo, Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Nai Basti, Gangyal, Bari Brahmana and booked the erring traders. The team also warned all commercial establishments not to violate the provisions of Essential Commodities Act and adhere to the norms and rates notified from time to time. The team asked the traders to display the rate lists prominently and refrain from overcharging and misuse of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purpose.
