Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 1: Just a day after the troops of Border Security Force (BSF) foiled an infiltration bid in Samba area on International border (IB), Pakistan yet again violated the truce by firing small arms and mortars on forward posts along International Border in Akhnoor area of Jammu region.
"Pakistan Rangers this morning at around 1040 hrs resorted to unprovoked firing of small arms and few mortar shells in Pargwal Sector of Akhnoor", said sources adding that the action comes after BSF defused a bomb along the IN in Pargwal area.
BSF officials said that three BSF posts got affected due to firing from the other side while own troops retaliated with similar caliber weapons."
Sources further added that the bullet from Pak side caused damaged to the window panes and walls of the houses situated near the Akhnoor-Jourian road. "There is no firing since 1140 hrs while no loss of life or damage has been reported in the exchange of fire," BSF Spokesperson said. Pertinently, BSF troops claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid on late Thursday night in Samba Sector. There have been three incidents of sniper attacks by Pakistani troops along the LoC in this July. During these border skirmishes an Army jawan was killed in Poonch on July 29 late night after he sustained critical injuries by a sniper shot from Pakistan. Earlier the Pakistan Rangers, violated ceasefire along International border by targeting the border outposts in Arnia sector of Jammu district when the security forces were fighting a fierce gun battle with terrorists in Dinanagar of Punjab on July 27. Prior to this on July 18 the Pakistan troops violating ceasefire targetted heavily the forward posts on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir injuring five civilians after targeting indian posts in Nowshera Sector of Rajouri late Friday (july17)night.
