Inadequate staff, lack of Infrastructure plaguing GHS Bhatta

Early Times Report

Doda, Aug 19: Within tall claims of state government and education ministry to enhance enrolment in government schools, the lack of basic infrastructure at Government High School Bhatta Dessaa in Doda has become a matter of concern for the parents of the students enrolled there as this on the whole affecting the academic studies of students.
As per sources, there are two hundred and seventy plus students on the roll in the school from 1st to tenth class. "Ironically there are only five teachers posted in the school coming upto the teacher student ration of 1:55 which is beyond belief but is true courtesy the officials at the helms of affairs, sources said, adding, "Of these only one teacher is trained graduate while others are simply graduates and plus two passed. All the posts of masters are lying vacant."
"There is no subject teacher in mathematics and science in the school. So far as accommodation is concerned, there are a total three rooms in the school out of which one requires repairs and one is used as office cum store, they said.
Highlighting the lack of basic infrastructure sources said, "There is no laboratory and library facility available for the students."
Pertinent to mention here that in the name of so called rationalization, one primary school namely P S Kawkhilla has been clubbed to Govt PS Krallan without the consent of the stake holders.
Mohd Sultan Panch said that the inhabitants of Kawkhilla and Sarpanch panchayat Bhatta had submitted a resolution to the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Doda demanding the clubbing of PS Kawkhilla with HS Bhatta as it is nearest to it and CEO Doda also directed the concerned ZEO Bhagwah to look into the matter and resolve it amicably.
"Unfortunately the ZEO concerned instead of taking favourable action and ignoring the interests of the children has issued orders to combine P S Kawkhilla with P S Krallan which is functioning in a rented building, they alleged and added that despite knowing the fact that it is not feasible, the said ZEO for reasons best known to him has taken this decision.
