SRINAGAR, Aug 19: Realizing the futility of gun and violence has dealt a serious blow to economy of the State over the years, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has shown its total willingness for a dialogue for restoration of total peace in the trouble torn State of J&K. The Hurriyat Conference Executive Council which met here today under its Chairman, Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq has given an indication in this regard. According to sources a section of the Hurriyat leaders while discussing the situation in the State in general and Kashmir Valley in particular were of the opinion that the people have suffered a lot over last 26 years of turmoil and there should be an end to the same. They also were critical of the role of Pakistan which created an uncertainty in the Sub Continent. These leaders were of the opinion that the gun and violence was not any solution to the problem and the conglomerate should work for settlement of issue through negotiations so that peace is restored in the State in general and Kashmir Valley in particular. Some senior Party leaders were also of the opinion that the gun culture has created an uncertainty in the State and also halted the progress. On social front the Kashmir has become very backward and economically and politically. The leaders while welcoming NSA meet showed their willingness to attend the same for bettering relations between the two countries and settlement of dialogue once for all. The leaders also took strong exception to the rigid stand taken by a hard line group of the Hurriyat and said such a stand will put the State and its people to more trouble instead of doing any good. These leaders were of the opinion that the saner elements in the Hurriyat should break the ice and openly come forward for negotiations with Government in settling the issue once for all and also supporting the democratic process in the same manner as was done by Peoples Conference (PC) Chairman Sajjad Lone, sources added. All the executive members including Professor Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Ghani Lone, Musadiq Adil, Moulana Masroor Abbas Ansari and Mukhtar Ahmad Waza participated in the meeting.
The meeting discussed the ongoing political situation, the proposed meeting of National Security Advisors (NSA's) of India and Pakistan and the recent escalation of hostilities between the two countries on the cease fire line and its fallout on the Kashmiris living on both side of the Line of Control. While welcoming the proposed meeting of NSA's of two countries, the participants stated that for the prosperity of India and Pakistan and whole of South Asia, meaningful dialogue aimed to solve the Kashmir dispute was inevitable. It stated that Hurriyat conference as representative of the people of Kashmir who are the main and most affected party in the dispute, support a meaningful dialogue between the two countries and including them, which aims at finding a lasting solution to the problem in keeping with the aspirations of people of J&K, and other stake holders.
