Semis line-up drawn in inter-college TT

JAMMU, Aug 27 : Semifinals position has been cleared in the ongoing inter-college (men and women) table tennis competitions, organized by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at Gymnasium Hall on the campus, here today.
Teams reaching the last four stages of men's event are Post Graduate (PG) Departments, Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur, Government Medical College (GMC) and Government MAM College. Now, in the semifinals, scheduled for tomorrow, PG shall take on GMC while MAM shall meet GDC Udhampur.
Earlier, GMC and MAM College qualified for the semifinals getting walk-overs. However, PG outplayed GDC Paloura 3-0. The Results: Kaushek Gupta bt Gourav Singh 2-0; Shubham Kumar bt Hemant Sharma 2-0; Digvijay Singh bt Laksh Khajuria 2-0.
In other semifinal, GDC Udhampur trounced GDC Kathua 3-0. The Results: Akashdeep bt Gulcharan Singh 2-0; Mannat Arora bt Vishal Pathania 2-0; Rajat Khajuria bt Taranjeet Singh 2-0.
Meanwhile, semifinals position has also been cleared in women's event. Teams reaching the last four stages include Government College for Women (GCW) Parade, Government SPMR College of Commerce, GCW Gandhi Nagar and GDC Udhampur.
The two sides of GCW Gandhi Nagar and GDC Udhampur reached the semifinals without playing even a single match after their opponents in the drawn fixture failed to report the venue despite confirming their entries.
Other two teams won in the quarterfinals today are GCW Parade and Government SPMR College of Commerce. The GCW Parade beat PG Departments 3-0. The Results: Shruti R Sharma bt Pooja Sharma 2-0; Sonalika Sharma bt Shibali Bhau 2-1; Sandeep Kour bt Neeru Manhas 2-0.
The SPMR College of Commerce defeated GDC Kathua 3-2. The Results: Rachita lost to Swati Sharma 0-2; Simran lost to Mehat 0-2; Ananya bt Sakshi 2-0; Simran bt Swati 2-0; Rachita bt Mehak 2-0.
Today's matches officiated by the technical penal comprising Ravish Vaid, Gourav Sharma, Amit Sharma, Kumar Tarun.
