Drug peddler, two bovine smuggler held, animals rescued

Rajouri, Aug 27: Rajouri police under its drive against drug trafficking and bovine smuggling have arrested a drug peddler and two bovine smugglers under the jurisdiction of Kandi, Thanamandi & Nowshera police stations respectively.
According to police sources a police team led by inspector Mohd Younis, SHO , Police Station Kandi intercepted /frisked passenger vehicles and recovered illicit liquor from a Tempo traveler (No JK14A-7292) and also arrested a drug peddler identified as Onkar Singh r/o Gadyog alongwith 37 bottles of illicit liquor. The accused has been booked in case FIR No 64/15 u/s 48 Excise Act.
In a similar naka checking at special 'naka' at Behrote on Rajouri - Thanamandi road police team led by inspector Narinder Singh Chib, SHO, Police Station Thanamandi intercepted a Tata Mobile (JK1A-2441) and rescued six bovine animals being taken to Kashmir without proper permission by one Maqbool Hussain s/o Jala Din Gujjar r/o Targain in Kandi tehsil who was arrested on the spot.
A case against the accused under FIR No131/15 u/s section 188 RPC and 3 PCA stands registered.
Yet in another similar incident, a team led by SI, Roshan Lal , Lamberi Police Post in-charge arrested one Mehar Ali s/o Abdul Aziz of village Dandeshar along with five bovine animals while taking them to Srinagar on foot. He was arrested after failing to produce due permission to carry animals and was booked by the police.
Meanwhile Mohd Bashir, SHO, Dharamshal police station also rescued 8 bovine animals from the possession of one unidentified bovine smugglers who managed to give slip to police on a special naka near village Solki on Jammu-Kalakot-Rajouri road in the late night hours on Tuesday.
Police have booked the unidentified smuggler in case FIR No 80/15 and have started investigation to trace him who was taking the animals to Kashmir Valeey on foot.
