Chain, purse snatchers create panic at Kathua | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Sept 30: The repeated incidents of chain and purse snatching have created panic among women in and around Kathua town. Three such incidents have taken place in different localities here for the past one week but police have so far failed to lay hands on the accused. While police were struggling to solve the old cases of chain snatching, another incident took place at Patel Nagar after two masked youth, who were riding a motorcycle, snatched the purse of school teacher Neelam Gupta, wife of Sanjeev Gupta. According to sources, Neelam was going to school on her scooty when the masked motorcycle-borne youth snatched her purse and fled away. Her purse contained cash and an Android mobile phone, Neelam said. It is pertinent to mention here that similar cases have occurred in Krishna Colony and other congested areas of the town. Girl students, working women and senior citizens have so far become the target of chain snatchers, creating panic among them. When contacted, those on duty at Police Control Room, Kathua, and Police Station, Kathua, refused having any knowledge of the chain-snatching and purse-snatching incidents. |
