Jammu, Sept 30: State unit of BJP appears to be going AAP way in facing embarrassment at the hands of few leaders whose association with the party is not quite old, yet they are holding good political positions and command in certain ways. While there are many in the party whose credentials and background is getting gradually unfolded much to discomfiture of the party, the latest one is that of MLA from RS Pura whose wife's case came to fore today as HC has given directions to Crime Branch to probe her alleged fake Degree in medicine.
Sources said BJP's RS Pura MLA Gagan Bhagat's case has brought a fresh dose of embarrassment to party already in doldrums on various counts. RS Pura MLA's wife as per the complaint filed is running a private hospital on the basis of an alleged fake degree. While it is for the CB to go to bottom of truth in this case, but for now MLA's name associated with BJP is only becoming cause of disrepute to the party as a whole. This MLA is learnt to have joined the party few days ahead of the Assembly elections following which he got the mandate to contest the polls. However, this is not the sole case as there are many more whose credentials and dubious background is coming to fore much to embarrassment of the party, almost akin to few leaders of AAP whose acts have dented the image of the party considerably in recent months.
Sources said many of these persons came into the party fold ahead of Assembly elections and by dint of manipulations and manoeuvrability got these positions leaving far behind the senior lot. While few managed mandate, others accommodated as spokesperson and key positions in different cells. One of such spokesperson has no background of any field nor expertise or experience of any profession, yet his name figures in the list of spokesperson. A couple of these persons have shady and criminal background along with some key functionaries associated with Kashmir unit of the party sources said adding, that fingers will soon be raised against the party once their cases come to fore.
Sources said party has been deliberately pushing to wall the senior leaders who have standing in public and understand well the party line in terms of political acumen. The trend of accommodating people on sheer basis of their manipulative tactics without ascertaining their credentials is costing heavily for the party, sources said, adding that the old timers and genuine cadres are albeit happy about these developments as they feel the leadership would value the capacity of time tested leaders in this way alone. |
