Sikh lady murdered at Baramulla, people protest | SIT formed to probe into the incident | | S.Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report BARAMULLA, Oct 27: A Sikh lady was murdered under mysterious circumstances in the wee hours of Tuesday here, leading to protests. According to sources, a Sikh lady was found injured near the mini secretariat in the main town of Baramulla on Tuesday morning. Kundan Kour (55), wife of Karan Singh of Kanlibagh, Baramulla, was beaten mercilessly by unknown persons outside the local gurduwara. She was hit on the head and her throat was slit by the attackers while she was coming back home from the gurudwara, said sources. Woman was immediately shifted to District Hospital Baramulla for treatment where she succumbed to her injuries, sources informed. A large number of people came to streets to register their protest against the crime and blocked national highway at Kantbagh, Baramulla, for a few hours. Harpal Singh, a protester, said that, "The lady was murdered in a cold blood in broad daylight. After this incident, we are feeling insecure here." "We want police to initiate a thorough probe so that the culprits are identified and booked under the relevant laws," he said. A case in this connection was registered at Baramulla Police Station under sections 307 and 302 RPC. After post-mortem, the body was handed over to her family members for last rites. SSP, Baramulla, Imtiyaz Hussain said a SIT has been constituted vide order No CRB/Order/2015/22190-96 dated 27/10/2015 to probe into the incident. The SIT would function under the supervision of DSP (Hqrs), Baramulla, Feroz Yehya. |
