| Decades on, Hr Edu deptt fails to transfer influential college professors from GDC Kathua | | |

Jammu, Oct 27: Transfer of influential college professors has become a Gordian knot for Higher Education department, whose alleged premeditated helplessness could be gauged from the overstay of nearly two dozen professors of Government Degree College Kathua, who have been taking pleasure at their choicest place of posting for the last many years, in sheer contravention of transfer policy. Sources informed Early Times that top among the overstaying college professors in GDC Kathua, was Dr. Anita Kiran of English subject, who has been overstaying for the last nearly two decades. In the last almost two decades, Dr. Anita Kiran was reportedly transferred twice but enjoying strong political clout, she had managed her return within two days of her transfer from GDC Basohli to Kathua.
Dr. Sangita of Hindi, has also been enjoying her stay for the last more than nearly two decades in the same college. Sources further informed that both these college professors were promoted as Principals, but to enjoy stay in their choicest college, both had refused the promotion.
PK Rao of Botany, has been overstaying for the last nearly two decades and remained untouched by transfers. Due to the reasons best known to authorities, he is 'overburdened' as he is holding multiple charges. PK Rao is Warden of Boys hostel, Coordinator of IGNOU center, Convenor NAAC, Head of College Purchase committee for the last many years. Due to so much 'engagements' he is only taking one class and the contractual staff has been managing the affairs.
Moreover, Tajinder Kour of Punjabi has been staying in the college for the last nearly 18 to 20 years. Moreover, Kailash Sharma and Sumit Dubey of Mathematics have been overstaying for the last nearly six years and since their first posting in the college, they were never transferred.
Ritu Bhagat of Education has been overstaying for the last nearly 10 years. Once she was transferred to Jammu but she managed her return within few days once again in GDC Kathua. Sources further said that though there were two sanctioned posts of college professors of Education in GDC Kathua but three professors including Rachna Bhagat and Ram Singh were also enjoying over staying due to some unknown reasons against two posts.
In Physics subject Suram Singh, Naresh Sharma and Madhavi Manohar Lal have been staying in the college for the last 6-7 years. In Chemistry, Sumnesh Kumar has been overstaying for the last more than one decade now. Nearly three years back, he had managed his transfer to GDC Samba but after only six months, he prematurely managed transfer order and returned back to GDC Kathua. In Geography, Pawan Kumar has been overstaying for the last nearly 7 years. Interestingly, he was so close to former Principal of College that two years back Pawan Kumar was transferred to Leh but the then Principal Dr. Netar Singh had now relieved him to go for Leh and after few months, the transfer order was reportedly modified. In Computer Sciences department, Anoop Sharma and Parveen Sharma have been staying in the college for the last nearly six years and were never touched.
The long stay of these college professors, only portends towards the writ of transfer industry players and their deep rooted nexus. Some of these college professors are so much powerful that they even undermine the authority of College Principal and do as they wish, virtually crippling the smooth functioning and decision making process, sources said. |
