Teachers without salaries for six months

Udhampur, Nov 16: Despite claims made by state government solve all issues teachers fraternity in state, Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) teachers in the district are without salaries for six months.
A head teacher Satish Kumar told that teachers engaged under Sarv Siksha Abhiyan and ReTs are facing many problems due to this.
"Without money we cannot enjoy our festivals and our Karvachouth, Diwali, Bhaiya Dooj passes in miseries," he said. Another ReT Sham Lal said that they have to borrow money from friends and relatives to meet daily family chores.
"We have taken loans like home loan, education loan for child, vehicle loan etc on the base of our salaries and we have no another income sources to pay instalment of these loans," he said.
When contacted Chief Education Officer (CEO) Udhampur, Bishan Singh he said that due to non-availability of funds salaries of these teachers could not be paid. He informed that the salaries of Sarv Siksha Abhiyan teachers is jointly contributed by State and Central Government under 10:90 ratio. He assured as soon as funds reach his office salaries of these teachers will be paid.
