Patient care suffers as SDH Bhaderwah staff protests against assault on doctor

Bhadewrah, Nov 16 : Patient care at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Bhaderwah today got affected due to the protest from hospital staff which went on token strike to register their protest against misbehavior and assault on doctor on Saturday evening allegedly by a chemist.
All staffers at SDH Bhaderwah including doctors and paramedical staff led by Medical Employees Association President Raiz Ahmed Najar assembled in the premises of new Sub District Hospital Bhaderwah and staged a massive protest. Amid slogans demanding early action against accused they continued their protest which affected the normal functioning of the SDH Bhaderwah.
Here it needs to mention that a doctor posted at Sub District Hospital Bhaderwah was critically injured one day back after he was allegedly attacked by a chemist when he was on way to hospital. The injured medico identified as Dr Mudasir Arif - Assistant Surgeon at SDH Bhaderwah was later referred to Govt medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu for his serious head injury.
Speaking on the occasion protesting employees of the hospital alleged that it has become impossible for them to perform their duty in Bhaderwah as there is no protection for them They said that they will not call off their strike till police registers attempt to murder case against the accused assaulter and authorities cancel his chemist license .
Meanwhile civil society including social and political organizations have also strongly condemned the attack on the doctor and demanded stern action against the assailants. Many of them also joined protest at SDH Bhaderwah.
Janta Dal Secular state President Masth Nath Yogi, JKNPP State vice President Ch Mohd Iqbal, Congress leader Mohd Ashraf Goni, Tanveer Ahmed Dev JKNPP President Doda Neeraj Singh Manhas , BJP leaders Koshal Kotwal and Munsish Kotwal ,Bhaderwah Development Forum President Abdul Hafeez Khateeb , and Youth Action Committee President Naseer Mehboob Padder have asserted that in view of this gruesome act no doctor would be ready to serve here and extended their support to striking staff and demanded from state government and administration to take necessary measures .
Meanwhile Tehsildar Bhaderwah Dr Amir and SHO Jatinder Sambyal also visited the site of protest and argued upon the employees to call off their strike as they will take strict action against the person involved in assault. Both officers were persuading protesting health employees to call off their strike and resume their duties till the last reports came in.
