Jammu, Nov 16 : Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), DST, GOI sponsored one week training programme on 'Earthquake Hazard: Basic Approaches, Field Investigations and Modeling' on Monday concluded at at KalikaDham, Jammu. According to press release, the programme was organized by School of Innovation and Community Development, SMVD University in association with Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata and Department of Earth Sciences, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. On this programme, young scientists working in the area of earth sciences from national institutions, central and state Universities from various parts of the country and University of Cambridge participated in the programme. Eminent National and International mentors imparted training to the selected young scientists in this important realm of science. Prominent among those were Prof. James A. Jakson, Prof. V. K. Gaur, Dr. V. C. Thakur, Prof. Kieth Priestley, Dr. Alex Copley, Prof. Malay Mukul. The training programme took off on November10 and was inaugurated by Maj. Gen. S. K. Sharma (Retd), AVSM, Member SMVDSB, Katra who lauded the organization of such a unique training programme. |
