| Mufti speaks precisely and means business | | | R. B. Suri
In the valley the people at large gave the all out support to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the J&K State Assembly Elections - 2014, which once in collaborations with Indian National Congress governed the state of Jammu and Kashmir for three years earlier and also in place at the moment with an alliance with the BJP since 1st March.
As per the experience goes PDP led government earlier in collaborations with Indian National Congress in the state remained Stigma less , Scam free , Corruption less. No Commission of Enquiry was constituted after the fall of the PDP led Government.
Mufti Mohd. Sayeed is a man of stature, sober and matured political personality of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and remained Union Home Minister of the country in VP Singh's Government. He is well experienced and matured enough. He speaks very precisely and based upon his rich experience in politics and administration, he delivers the things in an effective manner. This time he got the support of the people of the valley for the development and progress of J&K as the miseries of the people were piling up like anything but without any solutions . People trusted him and voted his party for forming the government with the BJP.
At the same time, Prime Minister Narender Modi really wants to see J&K as a good governed and prosperous state of the Union This is evident from his earlier 6 visits to state and on a very recently visit to Srinagar on 7th November when he announced a financial package of Rs. 80068 crores for the state .
After Independence, no PM has ever visited the state so many times in a short span of nine months. Keeping aside the points difference in certain matters, PDP and BJP should come closer as much as they can as per their suitability in larger interests of the country. The ruling combine enjoys the support of 55 Members of J&K Legislative Assembly, including 2 others (MOSs Pawan Gupta and Sajad Lone)
Forgetting the past of total bitterness Modi and Mufti want to see the state of Jammu and Kashmir as a developed state like other states of the country . As such they are , it seems committed for the overall development of J&K.
It has been experienced that while presiding over the various review meetings in the Civil Secretariat and District Development Board meetings , Mufti concentrates much on the outcome / results of the directions and instructions imparted to the officers at the helm of affairs with regard to the development projects. Usually, he gives his thoughts first and then he expects the positive results from the men and machinery at his command . Mufti wants the business without involving himself in the controversial issues and at the same time over the time, he built up his close reputation and understanding with the present Prime Minister of the country . Due to this closeness and reputation he wants to encash the opportunity thereby discarding the other controversial issues of Article 370 , Self Rule, AFSPA etc.
We have high expectations from him. It is learnt that since he is inflicted with serious disease, he wants to handover the reigns of the state to his daughter Mehbooba Mufti. On this score , on many occasions , he made the hint publically as it is his compulsion owing to the reasons that he is for carrying out the ideology of PDP with the support of saffron party BJP. Without caring for his health and well being , he does not sit idle but instead makes hectic activities which include the convening and presiding of the official meetings, attending the public functions etc . Besides above , in the last 3 months , he made the extensive travelling and visited Mumbai , Chennai and New Delhi in connection with inviting the Big Industrialists , Corporate and Bollywood Producers and Directors for making the investments in J&K and shooting of the films in the valley. He succeeded in satisfying them for doing the needful so as to make the state as the developed state and uplifting the people as well. He is so wise that Agenda of Alliance is on his fingertips and going ahead step by step on this score after convincing his partners at the helm of affairs. It is worthwhile to mention here that he has engaged a well learned and experienced economist and banker Dr. Haseeb Drabu as the Finance Minister. This was not the case earlier when he acted as the Chief Minister of the state Then he was assisted by the Lawyers on this score .
Keeping in view his compulsions due to his ailment , it has been given to understand that he is presently direct in touch with the central leadership of BJP and the Prime Minister Narender Modi as well regarding the shifting of power to his daughter Mehbooba Mufti. During the past one week or so various speculations were noticed in the print and electronic media regarding replacement of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed with Mehbooba Mufti as the Chief Minister of the state .
Agenda of Alliance (AOA) is a comprehensive document which was approved and okayed by both the partners of Alliance to run the state of Jammu and Kashmir. This is a Bipartite Instrument based upon which the PDP/ BJP combine is ruling the state since March first.
Some leaders of BJP were denying the fact that they are not in the knowledge of the contents of this AOA - which is considered as the funny situation. This was noticed during the recent agitation launched in Jammu Division by the AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) regarding setting up of AIIMS in Jammu.
On November 7, Prime Minister Narender Modi visited Srinagar and addressed the joint rally of PDP and BJP in Sher-e-Kashmir stadium at Srinagar under the tightest security in the valley. PM Modi announced a financial package to Jammu and Kashmir to the order of 80068 crores of rupees for the all round development and progress of the state. Modi praised the youth of the state who are these days showing their talent in every field of life. While announcing the package he made it clear that this is the beginning and if the need be further, he will not hesitate to give the further financial assistance to the state .
Political Analysts have opined that the people of the state at large through their right to franchise have already played their role in the elections to the J&K Legislative Assembly. . Their coming out from the houses in very large numbers in taking active part in participating the elections process have strengthened the very roots of the parliamentary democracy in the country in general and the state in particular. Their role is magnificent and appreciable because of the reason that they have shown the separatists and the militant outfits the out gates thereby rejecting their dictates and boycott calls for not taking part in the Government of India governed electoral process in the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
Now it becomes the moral duty of the ruling parties to come to their rescue and do the best as much as they can for their progress and upliftment Both the MPs had skipped the PM rally at Srinagar on November 7 thereby violating the very the principles of protocol. Since it is regular phenomenon in politics, when one political party comes into power , some differences may crop up due to egos conflict with the passage of time. Same way it prevailed in his party, Mufti managed to set the same at rest with his experienced and sharp prudent thinking and skill. Though the rally organized jointly by BJP and PDP in Srinagar on November 7 remained successful without any untoward happening . It attracted the people to the large extent. People of the valley are totally fed up with the Bandh calls of the separatists organizations every now and then and now for keeping their shutters down inviting loss of corers of rupees , they have realized that only the development of their region is the panacea of all diseases and their ultimate progress. Pertinent to mention here that they have started for defying the diktats and calls of the separatists organizations particularly one led by the separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and he too inflicted with so many ailments . Syed Ali Shah Geelani has been marginalized by the masses of the valley as they have suffered a lot in the past due to his diktats off and on. Now it is to be seen as to whether PM Modi and Mufti Sayeed will succeed in winning the hearts of the poor masses living in the state and particularly in Kashmir valley with the passage of time .
