Early Times Report Jammu, Jan. 23: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today demanded the allotment of a separate wage head in each department particularly PWD, Irrigation and Flood Control, PHE, PDD etc, so that 61,000 daily rated workers working in various departments of the State Government so that they get their monthly salary on regular basis. Addressing a well attended meeting of NMC activists here, Subash Shastri said that under the budgetary provisions, the interim measure would go a long way to address their financial problems in view of sharp increase in the prices of essential commodities and inflation further said adding that the daily wagers had not been paid wages for the last many years and their services had not been regularized so far. He appealed the state Governor N. N. Vohra to settle the long-pending demand of daily wagers for the regularization of their services adding that matter of the regularization of these daily rated workers since for the last 21 years has not yet been settled by the previous regimes. Stressing the need for release of 6 percent DA installment for employees and pensioners, Shastri urged Govt. to announce and release the same at the earliest. Other demands highlighted on the occasion were immediate issuance of notification for implementing 7th pay commission recommendations, release of all pending dues of all daily wagers working in the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, PWD, PHE, Agriculture and other departments, removal of all pay anomalies of the clerical cadre under SRO 93, issuance of regularization of service orders of 180 daily wagers working in the Rural Development Department, setting up of national wage commission ,enhancement of wages of daily wagers atleast to rupees ten thousand per month besides enhance medical allowance to rupee one thousand per month etc. |
