Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jan 23: Irritated for exposing their corruption, the Block Development Officer Sangrama, is allegedly pressurizing a woman to disown her claim that bribe was demanded by official for releasing Rs75,000 under Indira Awas Youjna (IAY) to construct/repair her hut. Member Legislative Council, Mohammad Muzaffar Paray told Early Times that a day after the newspaper reported mal-practice in office of Block Development Officer (BDO) Sangrama, the BDO sent a Sarpanch and Naib Sarpanch at residence of Hareefa Bano. "Maqbool Itoo Sarpanch Sangrama and Niab Sarpanch Amma Paray on Saturday went to the house of Hareefa Bano, and forced her to give in written that no bribe was demanded by the official of BDO", MLC Paray said, adding that if there was mal-practice in the case, why payment under IAY, was not released in her favour. The MLC alleged that since the matter has been highlighted by the media, instead of mending their misconduct, the officials are forcing the victim to withdrawn her statement. "Financial assistance for two women, Rs 75,000 for each was given through ADC, payment in favour of one beneficiary Naseema Bano has been released, while other beneficiary Hareefa Bano, who don't have money to pay bribe to officials is waiting for money to construct her house", Paray said. Paray said the matter was also brought into notice of Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Yasha Mudgal, but has not been paying attention. |
