Dozens of villages in Kashmir remain cut off due to accumulation of snow

SRINAGAR/JAMMU, Feb 7: Dozens of remote and far-flung villages, including those near the Line of Control (LoC), remained cut off with their respective district and tehsil headquarters due to accumulation of snow on road.
Meanwhile, the 85-km-long road from Bandipora to border town of Gurez remained closed due to snow since December last year. Official sources told that dozens of roads, including those connecting border towns of Keran, Karanah, Machil and other villages near the LoC with their district headquarters, remained closed.
Machil had received about three feet of snow, Sadhana top four feet, Z-Gali five feet, Gurez one feet and Razdan top about three feet and Keran about half a feet last week.
Meanwhile, dozens of villages, including those near LoC also remained cut off with tehsil headquarters due to snowfall.
A teenager boy was killed and two others were injured when they came under a snow avalanche in Machil, Kupwara on January 30.
